    Iconic Birmingham City moments

    • FA Cup Semi-Final 1931: A 2-0 win over Sunderland saw the club reach the final of the FA Cup, where they lost 2-1 to West Brom.
    • Promotion to the First Division 1948: Birmingham returned to the top flight after winning the Second Division, three points ahead of second place Newcastle.
    • English League Cup Winners 1963: Birmingham lifted their first major trophy with a 3–1 win over rivals Aston Villa.
    • Promotion to the Premier League 2002: The club secured top-flight football again after beating Norwich on penalties in the play-off final.
    • League Cup Winners 2011: A 2–1 victory against Arsenal in the final under Alex McLeish marked a historic day for the club.

     

    Iconic Birmingham players

    • Gil Merrick: The legendary goalkeeper was one in a long line of great Birmingham City and spent his entire career at the club, appearing more than 700 times between 1939 and 1960.
    • Trevor Francis: A skilful forward, Francis became the first £1 million British footballer when he signed for Nottingham Forest in 1979.
    • Malcolm Page: The Welsh defender made 391 appearances and scored 10 goals for Birmingham City in all competitions over a 17-year career.
    • Joe Bradford: The England international spent the majority of his career with Birmingham, and remains the club's all-time leading goalscorer with 267 goals from 445 appearances in all competitions.
    • Jude Bellingham: Midfield prodigy who rose through Birmingham’s academy,  Bellingham quickly became one of England’s brightest young talents and signed for La Liga giants Real Madrid.
